What is the Girl Scout Gala?

The Girl Scout Gala, formerly called the Father-Daughter Dance, is an annual dance where all the Girl Scouts of the Service Unit (and their friends!) can come and dance the night away! Girls bring an adult "date", and laugh and enjoy the company of all their friends and fellow girls scouts.

What should I bring to the Ball?

No. There is no dress code for the event, though most girls treat the dance as a "winter formal" and choose to wear more formal attire such as dresses and skirts. If your Girl Scout or their date would prefer to wear something more casual, that is fine! Please don't let attire be what prevents your Girl Scout from wanting to come to the dance! The goal is to include everyone!

Is there a dress code?

You don't need to bring anything, but most girls do...

~Bring an adult "date". For most, this is their father or father-figure, but some girls bring other adults as their "date". Brothers, grandfathers, uncles, family friends, or even moms are all welcome to come! Whoever would like to come as your "date" is welcome, though we do ask that you please bring an adult date. If you have questions about "dates", please feel free to contact us.

Will there be food?

Masquerade Ball 2013

Last year Troop 4553 hosted the Girl Scout Gala, and they had so much fun that they are hosting again! For pictures of all the fun they had as Princesses in Pink, visit the Gallery

The theme for the 2013 Girl Scout Gala is Masquerade Ball. The dance will be Friday, February 22nd from  6:30-9:00 pm in the ballroom at the Reston Community Center.  The cost of the dance is 10 dollars per person, or 20 dollars per couple. this fee allows entrance into the dance, but also includes unlimited refreshments, a photograph of each girl with their "date", and a patch to go on their Girl Scout vest or sash! The Registration Form and all other forms and directions can be found on the "Forms" page.

Last year for the Princesses in Pink dance, there were tiaras available for purchase. The proceeds of these tiaras went to Girl Scouts SHARE Family Giving Campaign. This year instead of tiaras, there will be masks available for purchase. Like last year, the proceeds will go to the Girl Scouts SHARE Family Giving Campaign. For more information on SHARE, visit the GSCNC SHARE website: http://www.girlscouts-gateway.org/for_parents/share_program/

Yes. There will be refreshments and little snacks for everyone who participates. The cost of these refreshments is included in the registration fee. However, dinner will not be served, so most girls eat dinner either before they come or after they leave the dance.
